What do Byzantine mosaics, Egyptian wall paintings, and classical Greek vase paintings have in common?

They were the inspirations behind Hildreth Meière’s incredible artistic career. Working with leading architects of her day, Meière designed approximately 100 commissions. The Newark Museum of Art has proudly displayed the Pillars of Hercules, a marble mosaic panel originally commissioned in 1960 for the Prudential Plaza lobby.

Join us for two short documentaries and a panel discussion with the mosaic’s designer Anthony David Schiavo, mosaic’s restorer Steve Miotto, architect Richard Williams, and author & curator Catherine Coleman Brawer. Moderated by award-winning broadcaster and consultant Steve Orr.

Enter the event through the South Wing, located near the Museum parking lot. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.
