Join us to mark the launch of Apollo (Diptych)!

This new long-term installation by celebrated artist Sanford Biggers features two 3-foot black and white marble sculptures. Acquired this year by the Museum, Apollo (Diptych) will greet visitors at the Museum’s main entrance at 49 Washington Street, activating the street and Harriet Tubman Square.

You are invited for a special unveiling of these sculptures on October 20 at 6pm, with Sanford Biggers and NMOA Director and CEO Linda Harrison. The unveiling will take place outdoors at the front steps of the Museum.

We are thrilled to welcome Sanford’s sculptures into our esteemed collection. By placing them prominently at our entrance we signal our commitment to community and ongoing efforts to make visible the layered and under‑told stories of American art in all of its complexity. Linda C. Harrison, NMOA Director & CEO
