Abstracting Nature presents a selection of contemporary sculpture made from wood and other natural materials, along with documentation of Earth Works and other site-specific works engaging with the landscape.

Nature has long been an important theme in American art, and in the second half of the 20th century. The American landscape became both subject and raw material for a wide range of artists experimenting with new ways of incorporating the natural world into their art.
