Art Ball

One zebra is magical, but a herd of zebras is a dazzle. We each offer our own stripe to the world, but no one can build community alone.  The Art Ball celebrates Newark’s collective energy and showcases pride in our state’s largest fine art museum. A cornerstone of New Jersey’s cultural calendar, it brings together business leaders, entrepreneurs, arts advocates, and museum supporters for an evening of cocktails, live music, dancing, and a seated dinner in the Museum’s galleries.

Annual awards are presented to artists and community leaders whose visionary thinking, generosity, and advocacy benefits the Museum and the broader arts community. Art Ball provides crucial support to the Museum’s special exhibitions and permanent galleries, as well as its outstanding programming for families, adults,  community organizations,  school groups, educators, and visitors with disabilities at little to no cost.

This year’s Art Ball will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Women, Power, and Promise: A Convening

Held for the first time in 2021 as a virtual program, this event gives a platform to fearless thought leaders to discuss the pursuit of true equality for all women. Hosted by The Newark Museum of Art’s Business & Community Council, this event raises funding from event sponsors and attendees to support the Museum’s Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) initiatives.

Spring Tea

A daytime event hosted by The Newark Museum Volunteer Organization (NMVO), the Spring Tea brings together Members and supporters to connect with each other and gain a deeper appreciation of arts and culture. A morning reception and pop-up boutique shopping is followed by a presentation by a guest lecturer in the arts and a seated luncheon in the Museum. Proceeds collected by the NMVO from event sponsors and guests support the Museum’s programs and operations.

Fall Luncheon

This annual gathering of Members and supporters celebrates the Museum’s mission to spark curiosity and foster community. Following a morning reception in the Christine Chambers Gilfillan Welcome Center, guests enjoy a presentation in the Billy Johnson Auditorium by a gifted speaker from the arts and humanities field, followed by a seated luncheon in the heart of the Museum’s campus, The Charles W. Engelhard Court. Proceeds from event sponsors and ticket holders support exhibitions and public programs.
