NMOA's Campus Transformation

The Newark Museum of Art continues its commitment to both a vibrant urban community and a globally significant collection of artistic and scientific treasures. Our next chapter is focused on expanding our public role and further enhancing our Museum’s impact.

In January of 2025, we began a construction project aimed at revitalizing downtown Newark. The renovation of the Learning and Engagement Center will include welcoming, airy spaces and improved accessibility.  A phased project aimed to create a vibrant cultural hub for generations in downtown Newark.  It will include new public art and green space, a new mixed-use gallery, and a sculpture garden.

Since its inception, NMOA has always been at the forefront of change, from pioneering school programs to being one of the first museums to welcome children, offer extended hours, and provide multilingual labels. Our Museum has always been rooted in the needs of its community.

We will continue to update you on the progress of this transformative project as it unfolds. Thank you for your continued support as we move into this exciting new phase.
