Presenting the 51st year of the festival hosted by The Newark Museum of Art

The longest-running Black film festival in the United States, has been a pivotal platform for Black filmmakers, actors, and storytellers since 1974. It showcases films that explore the intricacies of the Black experience, reflecting diverse narratives and fostering cultural enrichment.

July 16: Opening Night Reception and Film: Ricky  – A celebration to launch the 51st Newark Black Film Festival, followed by a special opening night presentation of Ricky.

Reception from 6-7pm, film begins at 7pm.  The screening will be followed by a Q&A.

Entrance

Please enter The Newark Museum of Art through the Main Entrance for all screenings and events during the Newark Black Film Festival. Due to construction, this will be the only entrance used for the Festival.
