Scout programs help students spark curiosity and learn life skills while connecting with the Museum’s global offerings, virtually or on-site!
Each experience can be virtual or onsite and is a fun and educational way to earn badges while connecting with the global offerings of the Museum.
Scout programs are inclusive of all scouts, educators and parents are invited to join Scouts during these programs.
What to Expect
Programs are offered Wednesday through Friday from 3pm to 5:30pm with select availability on weekends.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Max capacity of 25 participants (including chaperones)
- Advance registration is required at least one month in advance
- Scouts and chaperones: $15 per person

Cub Scouts
Scouts will create their own stories using the Museum collection as inspiration, showing their creativity through lines, shapes, and colors.
Scouts will gain an appreciation for the changing beauty of the night sky. They will be introduced to the constellations and create their own moon journal.
Scouts will learn about different dinosaurs who are herbivores, carnivores, and everything in between. Making their own fossil casts concludes this hands-on experience.
Scouts will become Super Scientists by investigating buoyancy and mixing colors together. They will hypothesize, investigate, and analyze their experiments as a team.
Scouts will compare types of portraiture in the Museum collection and create their own self-portrait to take home.
Brownies (2nd ‑ 3rd grade)
Scouts will discover how automotive designers come up with ideas for new vehicles. Inspired by artwork and lively discussions, they will design and build their own moving vehicle.
We have five senses that work together to let us see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the world around us. Scouts will experience the galleries using all five senses.
Scouts will learn new household habits to help their family save energy, water, and the planet. Scouts will check out our Endangered! exhibition to discover all the ways we can go green and be conscientious of our Planet Earth!
Juniors (4th & 5th grade)
Find out how automotive designers come up with ideas for new vehicles and design your own! Scouts will discover the various representations of vehicles in the Museum collection, ranging from lawn mowers to freight trains! Juniors will learn about market research and create their vehicle with a specific audience in mind.
Find out how to capture a winning photo with your digital device, whether you’re using a phone, tablet, laptop, or digital camera. Scouts will discover the magic of photography by utilizing various techniques to create one-of-a-kind images.
Discover different ways to make jewelry. Inspired by jewelry in the Museum collection, scouts will create their own accessories using everyday objects.
