November Family First Saturday

There’s always family fun at The Newark Museum of Art on the first Saturday of the month!

These hands-on activities are designed for children and their families to explore and enjoy together. We kindly ask that adults stay with their children throughout the session

Timeline of Activities 

11-11:45am | Creative Play: Line – Up & down and all around…that’s where lines can be found!

Appropriate for ages 3-5.
Location: Engelhard Court
Lines are all around us, straight, slanted & squiggly! We’ll explore how lines connect travel and intertwine in the museum’s collection. After our exploration the children will have a chance to create their own masterpiece inspired by what they have experienced.

12pm & 2pm | Planetarium Show: The Little Star That Could 

Appropriate for ages 5+

Journey with Little Star as they travel through the Milky Way in search of planets and a name of their own.

12:30pm | Kulture Kool

Enjoy a captivating show by Kulture Kool South Asian Cultural Center! As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New Jersey, Kulture Kool offers a range of educational classes, workshops, and events centered on South Asian performing arts, languages, and cultural immersion. We bring cultural education to life with vibrant assemblies and programming for schools, public libraries, and local institutions across the tri-state area. 1pm & 3pm | Planetarium Show: Out There: The Search for Extrasolar Planets  

Appropriate for ages 12+

Join us on a journey of discovery with the world’s most powerful telescopes. Explore the huge diversity of different worlds orbiting other stars in our galaxy and imagine what lies beyond!

1-4pm | Family Drop-In

Appropriate for ages 5-12 and families.
Location: Engelhard Court
Our natural world is rich with limitless beauty and wonder! Join us in a search through the museum, from animals to icebergs to flowers, and be surprised by natural elements you will discover! Projects vary Saturday and Sunday.

1-4pm | Imagination Station

Appropriate for ages 5+.
Location: Engelhard Court
Join us at Imagination Station and put your creativity to the test! Design prompts change weekly.

2:30pm | Kulture Kool
